ANTIBACTERIAL PROPERTY OF KAMIAS (Averrboa Bilimbi) LEAF EXTRACT THESIS ADVISER: S. MARITES JOY G. CABEBE This study investigated the antibacterial property of Averrhoa bilimbi against three bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Bacillus subtilis. The effectivity of the extract was tested through in vitro and in vivo bio assay. The most effective against the bacteria and the bacteria and the minimum inhibition concentration to inhibit the growth were determined. The experimental research design was employed in the study to determine the effect of Averrhoa bilimbi leaf extract against the three bacteria. The active constituents of Averrhoa bilimbi that can inhibit the growth of bacteria were the tannis and glycosides. Likewise, sulphur essential for the formulation of drugs were also present in the leaves extract. The most effective concentration against Pseudomonas aeroginosa and Staphylococcus aureus is 100% while the 40% concentration is most effective against Averrhoa bilimbi. All the different concentrations used in this study showed antibacterial property. The study revealed that the minimum concentration that can inhibit or kill Pseudomonas aeroginosa is 20%, Bacillus subtilis is 100% and Staphylococcus aureus is 40%. ER -
