ABSTRACT MANZANILLO RMJ, VILLALOBOS RNC, BARUT MCR, LAZAGA DTE, STO. DOMINGO CG. Mariano Marcos State University, May 2021. Cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the Ilokano translation of Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (Koos) among lokanos with knee osteoarthritis in Hocos Norte Adviser: Ruth Anne Claricel P. Batin Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) is a patient-reported outcome measure that is developed to assess the patients's opinion about their knee and associated problems. The KOOS has been translated and validated in more than 30 languages. In addition, a validated Filipino version of KOOS is also available; however, there is no lokano version available at present. A quantitative non-experimental methodological research design was used. Sixty (60) participants (37 females, 23 males) with a mean age of 59.07 111.80 years old were included in the study. The Ilokano-KOOS was developed according to the standard cross-cultural adaptation guidelines. Reliability was tested using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach's alpha. Construct validity was evaluated by quantifying the correlation between the Ilokano- KOOS and original-KOOS with Pearson's correlation coefficients. No major difficulties were encountered during the translation and pre-testing stages. The domains of the KOOS in the pre-test and re-test range from 0.77 to 0.97 (p<0.05), indicating good test-retest reliability between two assessment points. All domains of the Ilokano-KOOS had high internal consistency ranging from 0.770-0.969. Construct validity of all domains showed a good to excellent correlation which ranged from 0.969-0.996. The study demonstrated that the Ilokano-KOOS has an acceptable test-retest reliability, good internal consistency, and construct validity in individuals with knee OA. Key words: KOOS, knee osteoarthritis, patient-reported outcome measures, psychometric properties
