This thesis presents a comprehensive study on the design aspects of a green academic building. This research delves into the structural analysis, electrical system, water supply system, energy efficiency measures, and material efficiency measures of the building. These measures led to the design model of a green academic building for the MMSU COE. This study aims to present a solution to the lack of classrooms and facilities in the college of engineering and the rampant carbon emission in the construction industry specifically in the production of materials, and the carbon footprints of the occupants. This design thesis promotes the use of green building material and the implementation of low water and energy usage in a building. It also suggests the use of materials that have low embodied carbon. A complete set of plans was prepared for the design and assessment of the green building. Later on, an initial assessment was done on the EDGE App using the initial variables from the first design. Simultaneously, a structural analysis was done to the building. After the assessments, the building was at the lowest possible rating and with some adjustments, the rating was adjusted accordingly. All the measurements, dimensions, and material specifications were adjusted on the initial set of plans in order to maximize the green rating achieved from the EDGE Analysis. The rating was limited to the requirements of the building as specified by the existing codes in the Philippines. Additional facilities that are essential in a Green Building were added to the design as suggested by the EDGE App. After the adjustments on the plans and specifications, the final assessment was interpreted and then, the detailed unit price analysis was formulated. These variables suggest that it is possible to implement the construction of a green academic building within the campus of the Mariano Marcos State University with a budget amounting to approximately PhP 128,000,000.00. It is within the EDGE Advanced Rating which means that with some adjustments on the budget, orientation, and other requirements, the building is ready to be a Zero Carbon Building. This would contribute to lesser carbon footprint and also solve the existing problem in the lack of classrooms and facilities in the College of Engineering of the University.
