THESIS ADVISER: MS. MARITES JOY G. CABEBE
40 pp
This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the beliefs and practices on herbal medicine in curing the common illness and the socio-demographic profile of the residents in remote barangays of Ilocos Norte as to age, sex, educational attainment, civil status and occupation. Respondents are from the different remote barangays of Vintar, San Nicolas, Bangui, Burgos, Paoay, Badoc, Marcos and Nueva Era Ilocos Norte. questionnaire-checklist and unstructured interview were the main tools in gathering the information needed. Data gathered were analysed through descriptive and several statistical procedures relevant to the problems under study. Results showed that the belief and practice on the decoction of guava leaves for disinfecting wounds was found to be most believed and practiced. Practices in treating common illnesses were significantly related to their beliefs.
