Vidad The study was conducted at Brgy 17 Tabug, City of Batac, Ilocos Norte from February 01 to March 17, 2019 to assess the effect of blue (BML) and green monochromatic (GML) lights exposure on the growth of improved native chicken (IPC) from brooding to hardening stage. A total of 90 day-old straight-run IPC were randomly distributed to three (3) treatments with three replicates and 10 birds per replicate in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). During the brooding and hardening stages, the birds were exposed to 24 and 12 hours lighting schedule, respectively. On the first week of weighing, birds exposed to BML and GML were statistically heavier than birds exposed to traditional incandescent lighting. However, the preceding weekly weights, final weight, total gain in weight and average daily gain were not statistically different. Likewise, with feed consumption and feed conversion ratio of IPC. Lastly, growth performance of slow-growing chicken like IPC was not positively affected by BML and GML exposure which has been proven to be effective in fast-growing chicken like broiler chicken.
