Summary, etc. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY GADDAO, NOBY A. 2019. Supervised Farming Program on Broiler Production Using Avocado Leaf Decoction as Water Additive. Supervised Farming Project. College of Agriculture, Food and Sustainable Development. Mariano Marcos State University. City of Batac 2906 Ilocos Norte. 5lpp. Adviser. Mr. Sean R. Vidad The supervised farming project was implemented to validate the profitability of broiler production at backyard level using avocado leaf decoction as water additive. Specifically, the project aimed to rear 200 heads of broiler into two (2) overlapping growing cycles following the recommended management practices, realize at least 10% return on investment (ROI) for two (2) consecutive growing cycles, identify the problems encountered during the production stage, and develop entrepreneurial skills, necessary values and positive attitudes toward the entrepreneurial activity. The project was implemented at Brgy. 06 Bangsar, Banna, Ilocos Norte from January 26, 2019 to March 30, 2019. The project consisted of two (2) overlapping cycles at 55 days of rearing with 100 heads loading capacity per cycle. The recorded final weight of the birds were 16 kg and 1.85 kg while the average daily gain were 0.03 and 0.05 kg for the first and second cycle, respectively. The birds exhibited 1.75 kg and 1.72 kg feed conversion ratio and incurred a feed cost per kilogram gain of 49.57 and 49.50 pesos for cycle 1 and 2, respectively. In terms of financial performance of the project, the project obtained a gross income of Php 39,151 in both cycles while Php 26,833 was recorded for project expenses. For this, the project generated a net income of Php 12,318 in both cycles. In terms of return of investment, the project realized a 45.91% ROI for both cycles. The actual ROI of the project is four times higher than the ROI set before project implementation. On the other hand, the computed break-even yield (BEY) and break- even price (BEP) were 114.18 kilograms and 82.56 pesos, respectively. Aside from these, the student-entrepreneur enhanced her skills on rearing broiler chicken which include brooding management, feeding techniques, waste management, disinfection and innovative marketing via social media. Aside from skills, values were also developed such as resourcefulness, discernment, keenness, patience and compassion.
