Ramchand This supervised farming project on broiler production using 3% garlic (Allium sativum L.) powder as feed supplement was implemented to validate its profitability as an animal enterprise. Specifically, the project aimed to generate data on growth and production parameters, assess the cost and return of broiler production, generate income for the student-entrepreneur, identify the problems encountered during the production, and identify the skills enhanced and values developed. The project was implemented at Brgy.13 Caestebanan, Banna, Ilocos Norte on February 09 to April 04, 2019. The project consisted of two cycles which lasted for 35 and 30 days for the 1st and 2nd cycles, respectively, rearing 100 heads of broiler chicks. Production parameters were gathered to support the profitability aspect of the project. The recorded final weight of the birds was 1.60 kg and 1.70 kg while the average daily gains were 0.04 kg and 0.06 kg, for the 1" and 2nd cycles, respectively. A 99% percent harvest recovery was recorded for cycle one and 96 % for cycle two. Also, there were 160 kg and 170 kg total harvest weight for cycles one and two, respectively. The birds exhibited 1.44 kg and 1.18 kg feed conversion efficiency and incurred a feed cost per kilogram gain of Php 45.19 and Php 36.84 for cycles one and two, respectively. In terms of financial performance of the project, it obtained a gross income of Php 39.830 for both cycles while Php 28,835.96 was recorded for project expenses. For this, the project generated a net income of Php 10,994.04 for the student-entrepreneur for 65 days. A 38.68% return on investment was realized. The break-even yield and break- even price were 126.14 kg and 114.16 kg and Php 96.60 and Php 80.58 for cycles one and two, respectively. Aside from these, the student-entrepreneur enhanced her skills in rearing broiler such as feeding techniques, waste management, proper sanitation and disinfection and innovative marketing via social media. Aside from the skills, values were developed including resourcefulness, wise, keen observer and patience, honesty, and friendly. Lastly, broiler production at backyard level is a profitable enterprise that provides income in short period of time.
