Mariano Marcos State University, College of Health Sciences, Department of Pharmacy, Batac City 2906 Ilocos Norte, October 2007. ANALGESIC ANTIPYRETIC AND ANTI- INFLAMMATORY PROPERTIES OF GLYCOSIDE OBTAINED FROM THE DRAINED SYSTEM OF GUMAMELA (Hibiscus Rosasinensis) FAMILY MALVACEAE
54 pp
Thesis Adviser: rs. Imelda B. Corpuz
The study identified the phytochemical substance present in the extract of drained system of Gumamela (Hibiscus Rosasinensis). It also tested the efficacy of the Gumamela extract as analgesic, anti-pyretic and anti-inflammatory agent. Through phytochemical screening it was found out tha the constituent present is glycoside by the formation of brick red precipitate after the adding of Fehling’s Solution of the test sample. In analgesic testing, it was observed that the Gumamela (Hibiscus Rosasinensis) have the same effect with the standard drug, Aspirin, which can able to prolong the onset of pain of the test animals. The antipyretic of Gumamela (Hibiscus Rosasinensis) stem extract is effective in lowering body temperature of the test animals after administration. The anti-inflammatory effect of the Gumamela (Hibiscus Rosasinensis) stem has significant difference between the test sample and the standard drug, Indomethacin. Therefore, the standard drug is more effective than the plant sample.
