Summary, etc. ABSTRACT ADUCAL, JUDY ANN C., CALAPINI, SHERWAIN R., DE LEON, ELWIN NINA A. 2020. Modeling Agrochemical Transport in Undisturbed Soil Column Using Chloride as Tracer. Undergraduate Thesis. College of Engineering. Mariano Marcos State University, City of Batac 2906 Ilocos Norte. 41 pp. Adviser. Dr. Nathaniel R. Alibuyog One of the issues that affect agriculture production is harmful agrochemicals. Agrochemicals are the various chemical products that are used in agriculture. In most cases, the term agrochemical refers to the broad range of pesticide, insecticide, herbicide, fungicide, and nematicides chemicals. This study determined the transport behavior of agrochemical solution in undisturbed soil samples using chloride as a tracer in a miscible experiment. The study was conducted at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) at Brgy. Quiling Sur, Batac City, Ilocos Norte Results showed that that breakthrough curve (BTCs) exhibited sharp peaks with gradual concentration decrease ahead of the solute fronts. Likewise, the BTCs was best modeled by the two-region transport model with an R0.98. The optimized model parameters showed soil dispersion coefficient (D) ranges from 1.655 cm/min to about 9.318 cm/min while soil dispersivity (.) varies from 6,4011 cm to 38.493 cm. The partitioning coefficient (B) and the mass transfer coefficient (o) also showed wide variability. Finally, the study showed that in lower concentration of chloride the convection mechanism has an important role in transport and, in increasing initial concentration, the role of dispersion and diffusion mechanism becomes more pronounced.
