Summary, etc. ABSTRACT HERMANO, KEITH LYN P. and RAMOS, FRANC DOMINIQUE T. 2020. Water Quality of the MMSU Water Supply System: Physico-Chemical Analysis. Undergraduate Thesis. College of Engineering. Mariano Marcos State University, City of Batac 2906 Ilocos Norte. Adviser: Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr. Water is one of the things that humans need to survive. Water can give life to organisms, yet it can also bring upon death to an individual. Water is a resource that can be easily contaminated if not handled correctly. Hence, studies and screenings such as water quality assessment are needed regularly. The study sought to characterize the physical and chemical water quality of the MMSU water supply system to identify the contamination problems, and suggest appropriate solutions and compare to World Health Organization (WHO) 2004 standard and Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW) 1993. The study was conducted at the Crop Research Laboratory, Batac City, Ilocos Norte. For every sampling area, the collected water samples in every site were replicated thrice. The study was conducted at the Crop Research Laboratory, Batac City, Ilocos Norte. The presumptive test of appearance, color, odor, and the taste were directly examined through tasting, smelling, and observing its color and appearance right after collecting. Results revealed that only the building of ADMIN sample 2 and CAFSD sample 1 were tested yellowish in appearance and color, as well as have a bad odor with a bitter taste. On the other hand, the results from the chemical parameters showed that all of the samples from of MMSU water supply passed the maximum allowable set by PNSWD (1993). The problems that were identified suggest that regular physico-chemical monitoring should be done. Remedial measures are needed to maintain and improved the physico-chemical quality of the MMSU water supply.
