Summary, etc. ABSTRACT AURELIO, ANNA MAE D., CLEMENTE, RUTH MARNELLI C. and CORPUZ, JERICK M. 2020 Design Construction and Evaluation of a Manually Operated Two-Row Planter for Different Crops. Undergraduate Thesis, College of Engineering, Mariano Marcos State University, Batac City 2906 Ilocos Norte. 47 pp. Adviser: Dr. Arnold F. Dumaoal, Sr. A design and evaluation of a manually operated two-row planter for Mungbean and Maize was done at Brgy. 18 Magnuang, City of Batac, Ilocos Norte to test the machine in terms of theoretical field capacity, effective field capacity, field efficiency, percent of damaged seeds, and planting accuracy. The economic feasibility is also been analyzed. Results showed that the two-row planter has height, length and width of 89 cm, 158 cm and 71 cm, respectively. The planter was made of locally available materials and low-cost that can be easily purchased and operated by a small-scale farmer. The planting accuracy for mungbean is 85.8% and 86.3% for corn. A percent damaged of 5.5% for mungbean and 8.3% maize. The field efficiency of the planter is 76.0% for mungbean and 91.1% for corn. The total cost of the machine is P 6,831.00. With the higher percent of damaged seed and lower planting accuracy for mungbean, further modification specifically the seed metering mechanism is highly recommended. The seed plate for mungbean and corn shou different to improve the performance of the planter.
