Lidora The practicum project on broiler production was implemented at Brgy. Tabug, City of Batac, Ilocos Norte on February 4, 2019 March 17, 2019. The 'one production cycle' project consisted of 100 heads loading capacity and lasted for 42 days. The project was intended to provide a working experience both in technical and marketing aspects of broiler farming to the student-entrepreneurs; examine the profitability of broiler production; provide income; and help the student-entrepreneurs to gain skills and values relevant in managing a broiler project. The management practices followed by the student-entrepreneurs were based on the recommendations of the technical adviser Likewise, the harvestingprocedures were based from Philippine Recommendation for Broiler Production.The recorded total harvested weight of the project was 148.95 kg with 91 percent harvest recovery and nine percent mortality which was observed after the production cycle. The price imposed was based on the existing market price of Php 130.00/kg on liveweight basis. The product was promoted through social media and placard Buyers of the product included individuals, Wends, neighbors and relatives of the student entrepreneurs The breakeven price and actual price of the product were Php 5.6K and Php 130.00, respectively. The student-entrepreneurs gained Php 44.32 for every kilogram of chicken sold. Likewise, the break-even yield resulted to 98.17 kg. The actual volume of the production was 148.98 kg. the value of the extru 50.78 kg represent the gain from the project The project incurred a total production cost of Php 12,762.65, a total fixed and variable costs totaled to Php 350.00 and Php 12,412.65, respectively. The total grous income of the project amounted to Php 19,364.00 giving a net income of Php 6,601 and a return of investment (ROI) of 51.72% Aside from the gained income from the project, the student entrepreneurs also developed their knowledge and skills in managing broiler farming business Student- entrepreneurs were able to integrate their knowledge on agribusiness, economic, accounting and agriculture subjects throughout the operation of the project Moreover, the student-entrepreneurs leamed to become more efficient in managing their resources as well as their time in managing the broiler farming business The main problem encountered by the student-entrepreneurs in the project was the unfavorable weather condition which mainly the cause of mortality during the brooding stage of the birds. Because of the inconsistent temperature, the birds suffered from respiratory coryzu and prolapse, some were piled because they were huddling together.
