Summary, etc. ABSTRACT UMBLAS KA, AGUINALDO AM, ASUNCION LM, GUARDIAN KD, HERNANDEZ MC, PALECPEC M. Mariano Marcos State University. May 2021. Awareness, Attitude and Barriers on Evidence-Based Practice among Physical Therapists in Ilocos. Adviser: Mrs. Ruth Anne Claricel P. Batin The use of evidence-based practice (EBP) in physical therapy practice is important as it adheres to the recommendations from critically appraised research papers to ensure that the most appropriate and best treatment option for the patient is provided. Evidence shows that EBP was considered by physical therapists as a new concept and an innovation in practice. This study employed a descriptive cross-sectional research design to determine the use of Evidence-based practice among physical therapists, who are working in Ilocos in terms of their awareness, attitude, and perceived barriers which were statistically treated with the used of frequency count, percentage and mean. Majority of the respondents who took part in this study were recent graduates with a clinical experience of less than 5 years. The respondents were moderately aware in the use of EBP and had a positive attitude on using it on a day-to-day basis and showed enthusiasm to its use and benefits. The major barrier that hinders them from using evidence-based practice is their lack of time to implement it as most of their time are being used in patient management. Also, as a result, physical therapists reported to have struggles in their implementation of statistical analysis. EBP is widely known and is very important in the clinical practice of physical therapists. There is an increasing awareness of EBP among physical therapists in Ilocos as shown in this study. However, there is a need to further emphasize the daily practical application of EBP in their clinical practice. Keywords: Evidence-based practice, physical therapists, awareness, attitude, barriers
