Perception of MMSU Physical Therapy Students and Faculty Members on their Readiness for Interprofessional Education Adviser: Mr. Paul Cresencio R. Liberato Complex health issues arising from the ever-increasing population need specialized health professionals who can render a level of professionalism that can best be achieved through Interprofessional Education (IPE). While IPE is recognized in the developed world as an innovative strategy in mitigating the global health workforce crisis, the Philippines is yet on its inception stage, hence knowledge on and attitude towards IPE are yet to be explored and measured. A good case in point is the fact that perceptions on readiness of physical therapy students and faculty members towards Interprofessional Education have not been officially measured at Ilocos Norte, hence this study. With physical therapy students and faculty members as respondents, the study utilizes a descriptive correlational quantitative research design. A questionnaire adapted from the revised version of the Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale (RIPLS) was used and the research was conducted online via a google form. While the results show that there is no significant relationship between the demographic profile of students and their perception on readiness for IPE as well as to the faculty members, the respondents generally recognize IPE as an element in creating collaborative teamwork. They acknowledge that learning with other healthcare professional increases their ability to understand clinical problems and help them communicate better with patients and other professionals. With the respondents' positive perception on IPE and other relevant findings, the study provides a strong foundation for the successful implementation of IPE in the Philippines.
