Summary, etc. ABSTRACT MANEGO, AUDREY M. 2021. Marketing Practices of Banana Retailers in City of Batac, Ilocos Norte. Undergraduate thesis. College of Agriculture Food and Sustainable Development. Mariano Marcos State University, City of Batac 2906. Ilocos Norte. 40pp Adviser: Ethel Reynda M. Calivoso The study was conducted to assess the marketing practices of banana retailers in City of Batac public market. Specifically, it aimed to: characterize the retailers sociodemographic and economic profile; determine the marketing practices, and identify the problems encountered in marketing of banana. The study used a descriptive one shot research design. Fifteen banana retailer respondents at the City of Batac public market were interviewed. In general, the respondents were middle aged, and female. Most of them were married and had a secondary level of education. They belonged to small households and were quite experienced in marketing of banana. The primary source of income was buying and selling the banana fruits. The activities practiced by the retailers before selling were choosing of variety, sorting, packaging, and storing. Majority of the retailers preferred to buy and sell in per kilogram basis. Likewise, price of the product was dictated by the suppliers. Retailers usually purchased bananas at the market place. The major marketing problems encountered by the retailers were high spoilage of the product, high buying price, and low market price.
