Summary, etc. |
This study was conducted to assess the drainage system of Brgy. Veronica, Paoay, Ilocos Norte. This study proposed appropriate measures in mitigating the flooding in the area. The data gathering procedure of this study covered two phases: (1) collection and processing of data for diagnosing the stormwater drainage system; and (2) development of a design plan for the drainage system. In assessing the drainage system of Brgy. Veronica, Paoay, Ilocos Norte, the surface runoff was evaluated through EPA SWMM software using the 5-, 10-, 25-, 50- , and 100-year return period. Simulation results showed that six junctions were flooded in 5-year return period namely junctions 1, 2, 7, 9, 13, and 17. In the 10, 25, 50, and 100-year return period, seven junctions were flooded namely junctions 1, 2, 7, 9, 13, 17, and 19. Junction 13 was the most flooded junction in all return periods with a maximum discharge of 2.84 cubic meters per second (cms) with the most volume of water with 21.593x106 liters. To conclude, based on the assessment of drainage system through simulation, the researchers concluded that particular drainage were not adequate. |
