Summary, etc. This study was conducted to assess the construction waste disposal strategies among construction companies on horizontal projects in the province of Ilocos Norte. It employed both quantitative and qualitative methods. It utilized questionnaires to acquire essential data from respondents that would help the research to achieve its objectives. The people of the study involved project managers and site engineers with substantial work experience in horizontal projects from PCAB-licensed contractors under general engineering. A total of 15 construction companies in the province are identified as the respondents of the study.
Frequency counts, mean and percentages were employed in order to tabulate, analyze, and interpret the data gathered.
The result of the study shows that in bridge and roads and highways construction projects, building materials were identified as the primary waste type predominantly composed of metal scraps and rebar and reinforcement wastes. While for canals and irrigation and dam construction projects, dredging materials were the most prevalent with substantial contributions from excavated soil. As an addition, the study also found out that dams generated the most construction waste among the horizontal projects in the province of Ilocos Norte with a total volume of 179,424.4 m3. On the other hand, the highest compliance was observed for formworks waste, excavated soil, and rock and stone. These aforementioned types of waste, according to RA 9003, are expected to be recycled. The high compliance rate indicates that the respondents are well-aware about recycling and that it is being followed. Categories like metal scraps, concrete and masonry waste and scour protection materials fall under moderate adherence. These types of waste are expected to be treated through material recovery facilities (MRF). This suggests a need for improved enforcement on the use of such facilities. It can also be deduced that there is also a need for treatment facilities for chemical wastes as reflected by a moderate compliance level. The low compliance

level for hazardous waste category, particularly for plastic and PVC waste also emphasizes the need for stricter regulations and improved enforcement.
Overall, significant efforts are still needed to improve waste disposal strategies, particularly those involving hazardous materials. It is recommended that for future researchers, they should include in their studies those construction firms that are not under general engineering classification who handle horizontal projects. Categorizing each type of waste according to the scope of work on each type of project where they were used must also be considered.
