Summary, etc. This study evaluates a 3.115 kW grid-tied solar PV system installed in a residential household in Brgy. 56-B Bacsil South, Laoag City. The main objectives were to determine the total initial cost of the system, monitor solar energy production and usage, project financial aspects over 25 years, compute the ROI and PBP, and assess the system’s effectiveness. Through a year of monitoring and data collection, including historical electricity profiles and solar generation records, the system's effectiveness was assessed. Results showed an initial investment of Php. 118,540.00, with the system producing 4432.19 kWh over the monitoring period. A 25-year projection estimated a gross saving of Php. 962,714.22, with an overall saving of Php. 802,540.79 after subtracting operating and maintenance costs. The investment was projected to be recovered in 5.0515 years, demonstrating a speedy payback period; and has an average annual return on investment of 27.7919%. Thus, the PBP for the optimal redesigned size of the solar PV system was projected to be 2 years, 2 months, and 15 hours and has an ROI of 62.2154%, which was faster and more effective than the actual size of the system presently installed. Redesigning the solar PV system, a kilowatt-peak value of 1533.65 kW, satisfies the optimal condition. The study recommends homeowners consider investing in grid-tied solar PV systems for long-term savings and future solar designers size systems according to load to maximize savings. Additionally, future research should explore different solar system types, such as hybrid and off-grid, using this study as a basis for comparison.
