Summary, etc. The study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of waste-powdered
Django F1chili pepper (Capsicum frutescens) (WPP) as dietary additive at the rate of
1.5, 2 and 2.5 g per kilogram of a corn-soya-based diet for class B Cobb broilers.
Specifically, the study aimed to determine the feed consumption, gain in weight, feed
conversion ratio, feed cost per kilogram gain, weight of internal organs, profitability and
production efficiency factor (PEF) of broilers fed diets with and without WPP. The study
was conducted at Sitio Sabi – Sabi East Brgy. 32, Palongpong, City of Batac, Ilocos
Norte from October 4 to November 14, 2023. A total of 108 heads straight-run class B
Cobb broilers were used and nine heads were assigned per treatment, replicated three
times following the Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The feeding of the
experimental diets was done after the brooding period. Growth performance, feed and
economic-related parameters were gathered and calculated. Statistical analysis revealed
that birds fed with corn-soya-based diets with and without different levels of WPP have
similar final weight, gain weight, average daily gain, feed intake and feed conversion
ratio. Similar observation on the weight of the internal organs of the experimental birds
was recorded. Moreover, absence of statistical significance was also observed on
economic related parameters such as performance efficiency factor, gross sales, net
income and return on investment. The results of the study revealed that addition of WPP
at low levels does not positively influence performance and economic parameters of
raising class B Cobb broilers in corn-soya based diet.
