Camangeg Co-Adviser: Ms. Janelyn Viado-Rojas The Sampa-Sampalukan (Phyllantus Ninuri L.) leaves crude extract has been evaluated for its ability to decrease cough in citric acid-induced cough on male and female guinea pigs. The study was also conducted to confirm the constituents present in the plant sample through confirmatory test. Dose of 300 mg/kg was used in antitussive effectiveness to determine its property to decrease cough. The result indicated that there is no significant difference among the three treatments: T1-negative control (plain normal saline solution), T2-positive control (Acetylcysteine) and T3-300 mg/kg of the Sampa-Sampalukan (Phyllantus Ninuri L.) leaves crude extract in their antitussive property in the citric acid – induced on cough male and female guinea pigs. It was found that the Sampa-Sampalukan (Phyllantus Ninuri L.) leaves crude extract and positive control shows a comparable effect in treating cough.Item type | Home library | Call number | Status | Notes | Date due | Barcode |
