Mariano Marcos State University, College of Health Sciences, Department of Pharmacy, City of Batac 2906, Ilocos Norte, Adviser: Augustus Caesar C. Pati; Co-adviser: Janelyn Viado-Rojas The wound healing potential of Kauayan (Bambusa Spinosa Roxb.) Vinegar Ointment was tested on twelve albino rats. The albino rats were subjected to the following treatment: Kauayan Vinegar Ointment group; solcoseryl ointment treatment group; ointment base treatment group and negative control group. The test animals were randomly assigned to the treatment group. Patch test was performed to determine the possible irritation caused by the Kauayan Vinegar Ointment. The healing rates of the four treatment groups were compared. The significant differences of the wound reduction rate of the different treatment groups were detrmined through analysis of variance (ANOVA). In the patch test, the Kauayan Vinegar Ointment showed no visible signs of irritation. Result showed that the Kauayan Vinegar Ointmentis effective in healing wound and it has no significant difference with the efficacy of Solcoseryl Ointment base did not interfere in the wound healing process.
