Alexander polynomial and jones polynomial as knot invariants of torus knot / Edmarie A. Guarino

By: Guarino,Edmarie AMaterial type: TextTextPublication details: 2019Description: viii, 54 leaves ; 28 cmSummary: ABSTRACT GUARINO, EDMARIE A. Mariano Marcos State University. May 2019. ALEXANDER POLYNOMIAL AND JONES POLYNOMIAL AS KNOT INVARIANTS OF A TORUS KNOT. Major Adviser: Dr. Michelle D. Reynera. This study served as an introduction to Knot Theory, a branch of Topology. It aimed to: a) obtain visual images of T'(p, q) torus knots using the software called Knot Plot; b) determine the Alexander polynomial and Jones polynomial of T(p,q) torus knots, and c) identify properties of the Alexander polynomial and Jones polynomial of T(7.9) torus knots, where p and are relatively prime. Results of the study show the effectivity, efficiency and properties of the Alexander polynomial and Jones polynomial as knot invariants of a torus knot.
