Terminal Report College of Agriculture, Food and sustainable Development Mariano Marcos State University, City of Batas 2900, llocs Norte 87 pp. Adviser Ms Sharmila DL Ramchand On the Job Training (OM) program is a significant part of the student's curriculum that helps develop her skills and knowledge and apply the theories and principles of Animal Science through hands on activities with this, the studentaines was exposed to field works, dealing with her cherson major. This help the student trainee attain and improve the knowledge that will be applied in the future. During the 70-day OIT, the student-trainee rendered 35 days at the Department of Agriculture-Ilocos Norte Research and Experiment Center (DA-INREC), and another 35 days at the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) and its subsidiaries, the Animal Ouarantine Station (AQS), and the Pasuquin Breeding Center (PBC). The student-trainee had rendered a total of 280 hours during her stay in DA- INREC. While she was on the said agency, the student-trainee accomplished different activities on ruminant production such as mixing of concentrates, hauling of forages, and feeding of forages, and concentrates as well as other management practices like ear tagging, wool shearing, and hoof trimming. She also experienced different health management tasks such as administering antibiotics and expectorant, supplementing of vitamins, deworming, detieking, blood collection, and fecalysis. In terms of forage management the student-trainee was engaged in applying fertilizer, planting of Trichantera, Napier and Indigo grass, good waste management such as vermiculture as well as the preservation of forage grasses like Silage and making of Urea Treated Rice Straw. On the other hand, the student-trainee rendered 120 hours at the Provincial Veterinary Office which participated on the Capitol Express and veterinary missions like deworming and vitamin supplementation of animals, anti-rabies vaccination, seminars, encoding masterlist, dispersal programs and collecting blood samples. During her stay at the Animal Quarantine Station (AQS), she accomplished the following inspection of incoming and outgoing live animals, meat products, issuing of certificates and permits, checking of documentary requirements of shipments, and collection of fees. Moreover, the student-traince rendered her remaining 80 hours at the Pasuquin Breeding Center, wherein she was engaged in feeding, health management such as cleaning and disinfecting, collecting of eggs and sorting, incubating and candling of eggs. Furthermore, the last week was allotted in the piggery project where the student- trainee experienced and accomplished feeding of pigs, and did breeding management like semen collection and processing and sow litter management tasks like removing of mucous membrane, weighing of piglets, spraying of umbilical cord and tooth clipping, lavage and castration. Also, she learned about health management such as iron supplementation, mycoplasma, vitamin supplementation as well as hog cholera vaccination and waste management like Bokashi production and marketing of semen. During the OJT in the two host training establishments, the student-trainee was able to develop the value of patience, initiative, and the relevance to work independently and time management. Moreover, the student-trainee learned the right way in conducting seminar, inspecting of live animals and meat by-products, and applying the principles of animal science to real hands-on experience.
