ANTI-EMETIC PROPERTY OF PARAGIS (ELEUSINE INDICA L.) LEAF AND STEM EXTRACT IN COPPER SUIFATE PENTAHYDRATE-INDUCED BULLFROGS (PANA JOPONICA). 53 pp Thesis Adviser: Mr. Rhian Jaymar D. Ramil A scientific investigation was done to examine the anti-emetic effect of Paragis (Eleusine indica L.) leaf and stem extract on bullfrogs and to determine the phytochemical substances present in the leaf stem extract. Anti-emetic effect was tested on the animals and Metoclopramide HCL was used as a positive control and 5% Sorbitol as the negative control. The leaf and stem extract was subjected to a ptyochemical screening test. The use of Liebermann-Burchard test indicated the presence of saponins specifically triterpenes and was confirmed using froth, capillary and hemolytic test. Administration of different size of doses (500mg/kg body weight, 1000mg/kg body weight) were used to determine the effective dose that will manifest an anti-emetic effect of the plant. As a parameter, emetic latency was measured from the experimental animals. The leaf and stem extract of Eleusive indica L. showed a significant difference in preventive vomiting of the copper sulfate-induced bullfrogs compared to positive control (Metoclopramide HCl).Item type | Home library | Call number | Status | Date due | Barcode |
