EXTRACTION OF ALKALOID FROM THE LEAVES OF POMEGRANATE (Punica Granatum) AS AN ANTIBACTERIAL AGENT AGAINST ESCHERICHIA COLI THESIS ADVISER: MRS. GEMMA VINLUAN This research was conducted to determine the presence of Alkaloid from the leaves of Pomegranate (Punica Granatum) as an antibacterial agent against Escherichia Coli. Results have shown that alkaloid is present in the leaves of Pomegrante through alkaloidal screening. An ointment was made and was applied to the infected skin of mice. Results showed that the ointment can cure Escherichia Coli infection. Comparison between the pomegranate ointment and standard drug terramycin was also undertaken. The standard drug was found out to be more effective
