GASTROPROTECTIVE EFFECT OF CELERY (Apium Graveolens) STALK EXTRACT IN ETHANOL-INDUCED ULCERATIONS IN ALBINO RATS Adviser: Rhian Jaymar D. Ramil The study was conducted to determine the gastroprotective effect of Celery (Apium Graveolens) Stalk Extract on Ethanol induced Ulceration in Albino Rats. Phytochemical Screening revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, carbohydrates and tannins. In Celery (Apium Graveolens) Stalk Extract. Four treatment group were utilized and that includes the (distilled water, which is the negative control, 100mg/kg and 300mg/kg of Celery (Apium Graveolens) Stalk Extract and Sucralfate as the positive control. this was done to determine the most effective dose of Celery Stalk Extract that would exert gastroprotective in ethanol-induced ulcerated test animlas. Statistical Analysis revealed no significant difference in the gastroprotective activity between the Sucralfate and 300mg/kg Celery Stalk Extract, significant difference was observed. This emans that 300mg/kg of Celery Stalk Extract and Sucralfate exerted the same gastroprotection in ethanol-induced ulcerated albino rats. The negative control which is the distilled water do not possess any gastroprotective activity.
