The Property of Taltalikod (Phyllanthus Niruri) Leaves Extract as a Gastroprotective Agent in Ethanol-Induced Ulceration Adviser: Ma. Danica A. Ines The extract of Taltalikod (Phyllanthus Niruri) Leaves has been evaluated for its ability to serve as a gastroprotective agent in ethanol-induced ulcerated female Albino rats. The study was also conducted to determine the different constituents present in the plant sample through phytochemical screening. The three doses of 500mg/kg, 300mg/kg and 100mg/kg of the extract of Taltalikod leaves were used in the study and distilled water as a negative control and Sucralfate as the positive control were employed. Gastric ulcer in the test animals were induced orally with ethanol . results showed significant difference between the Taltalikod leaves and distilled water in their gastroprotective activity in the ethanol-induced ulcerated Albino rats. The positive control and 500mg dose have no significant difference. It was also found that the treatment 500mg is the best dose among the three doses of Taltalikod extract in producing gastroprotection in ethanol-induced ulcerated Albino rats.
