Efficacy of Suha (Citrus Decumana) Fruit Juice as Antiurolithiasis in Male Guinea Pigs Adviser: Franklin V. Ibana, RPh, CP The study was conducted to determine the antiurolithiatic activity of Suha (Citrus Decumana) Fruit Juice (SFJ). The effectivieness of the juice to lower creatinine and amorphous phosphate levels was compared to standard drug. This study used ethylene glycol induced hyperoxaluria model in male guinea pigs to test the antiurolithiatic activity of the two doses (1ml/100g and 2ml/100g) of Suha (Citrus Decumana) Fruit Juice and to determine which dose exhibited the better results. Results of the study revealed that the doses of Suha (Citrus Decumana) Fruit Juice can lower bloodcreatinine and amorphous phosphate levels in the urine of the test animals. Of the two treatment doses, 1ml/100g of SFJ showed the better effect in lowering creatinine levels while both of the two doses (1m/100g and 2ml/100g) showed that there was a moderate decreased in the amount of amorphous phosphate in the urine. The antiurolithiatic activity of Suha (Citrus Decumana) Fruit Juice can be attributed to the presence of citrate/citric acid. Oral intake of citric boots levels of citrate and reduces the amount of amorphous phosphate in the urine. Based on the results of the study, the researchers therefore conclude that the juice obtained from of Suha (Citrus Decumana) Fruit Juice is an effective alternative treatment for urolithiasis.
