Leaf Extract in guinea pigs. A total of 25 guinea pigs were equally divided into five groups. Group I as the negative control was treated with normal saline solution. Group II received Chloramphenical palmitate prior to the administration of fresh Water Lettuce (Pistia stratiotes Linn.) leaf extract to test the hematinic effect of the extract. Group III received glucose prior to the administration of fresh Water Lettuce (Pistia stratiotes Linn.) leaf extract to test the hypoglycemic effect of the extract. Group IV received Chloramphenical palmitate prior to the administration of Ferrous Sulfate (hematinic agent). Group V received glucose prior to the administration of Gliclazide (hypoglycemic agent). The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used in the interpretation and analysis of the result of the experiment.

The study was conducted to investigate the Hematic and Hypoglycemic Effects of Fresh Water Lettuce (Pistia Stratiotes Linn.) Leaf Extract a Chloramphenical palmitate-induced anemia nad Molasses- induced hyperglycemic in guinea pigs.
The study made use of an experimental method of research mainly the Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design to determine the Hematic and Hypoglycemic Effects of Fresh Water Lettuce (Pistia Stratiotes Linn.) Leaf Extract in guinea pigs.
