Development of thermal insulating bricks utilizing Sta. Ana clay and cow manure / Lyka A. Sabuco

They can also be used in residential settings for wood-burning fireplaces and pizza ovens. This study developed thermal insulating bricks using Sta. Ana Clay and Cow Manure from Brgy. Root, Dingras, with varying ratios tested for key properties. X-ray fluorescence analysis revealed cow manure contained 26.86% silica and 6.04% calcium, while clay was composed of 72.67% silica and 12.01% alumina. Formulation 2 (92% clay, 8% cow manure) showed promising results, exhibiting low linear shrinkage, moderate loss of ignition, balanced density, and reduced water absorption. Approximately 1.38 W/m.K of thermal conductivity suggests that it could be used in insulation applications. These results illustrate the importance of formulation composition in insulation materials and demonstrate Formulation 2's suitability for further development and application.
