By: Blas, John Rovick AMaterial type: TextTextPublication details: City of Batac : MMSU, 2024Description: xvii, 69 leaves : 29 cmSummary: This study is about the Design, Fabrication, and Deployment of a Screw Type Turbine Pico Hydro System in selected site in Sitio Nalasin, Brgy. San Marcelino, Dingras, Ilocos Norte. The selected site irrigation system, visited by the researchers to gather data on its flow characteristics was Sitio Nalasin, Brgy. San Marcelino, Dingras, Ilocos Norte. The initial testing of the site in December 2023 has a volume flow rate, and waterpower of 0.4042 m³/s and 1,270.65 Watts, respectively, which is higher compared to the turbine testing in April 2024 which has a velocity flow rate, and waterpower of 0.1473 m³/s and 61.4 Watts. The appropriate turbine for the site is a screw turbine with an effective head of lower than 4 meters. The turbine was designed with a two-stage gear ratio. The waterpower was computed using the actual gathered flow rate using the float method. At a load of Brake Dynamometer, the computed brake power was 49.14 watts and at a load of 120 watts it has an electric power of 41.88 watts. The electric power produced depends on the velocity of the water. Since the turbine depends on the irrigation's volume flowrate and waterpower, the seasonal change in water flowrate has a substantial impact on the turbine's production. The output will be much improved if the system is built with efficiency in mind to be able to harness the power of the water.
