Growth and yield performance of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) as affected by different organic foliar fertilizers / Jade Christine A. Juan

By: Juan, Jade Christine AMaterial type: TextTextPublication details: City of Batac : MMSU, 2024Description: xi, 70 leaves : 29 cmSummary: Limited studies have been conducted on the use of organic foliar fertilizer. Generally, this study aims to evaluate the growth and yield of eggplants as influenced by the different organic foliar sprays under field condition in Sideg Paoay, Ilocos Norte from March to June 2023. Specifically, it aimed to: 1) compare the growth and yield of eggplants applied with different organic foliar fertilizers; and 2) assess the profitability of using organic foliar fertilizers in eggplant production. The following treatments were evaluated: the fermented plant juice (FPJ), fermented fruit juice (FFJ), fish amino acid (FAA), and the no treatment application. These were laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) in three replications with unit plot size of 21m2. Treatment effects were evaluated by the growth and yield performance of the test crop and the production economics. There were no significant findings observed on plants height at 35 and 45 DAT applied with different organic foliar fertilizer. However, plants applied with FPJ were significantly taller at 60 DAT. The yield parameters were not significantly affected by different organic fertilizer applications except for the percentage of fruit set and the number of fruits per plant in eggplant. Higher number of flowers was observed in control. The highest percentage of fruit set and the number of fruits per plant was observed from plants applied with FPJ. In addition, the highest profit was noted from plants that were not applied with organic foliar fertilizer.
