Pagurayan 	 	The study was conducted at Barangays Sto. Nino and Cabittauran at Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte. This study aimed to identify the indigenous practices towards biodiversity conservation of the communities in Nueva Era; describe the biodiversity status of the study sites as perceived by the two communities, and determine and compare the awareness of indigenous practices between indigenous and non- indigenous communities. 	In this study, 80 respondents were surveyed which include indigenous people (40) and non-indigenous people (40). The study used descriptive type of research design. The data were gathered using questionnaires which were personally administered by the researchers to the respondents and was analysed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that there were many indigenous practices of the people towards biodiversity conservation in the area. These practices include the use of traditional tools, the use of taboos and practices that are patterned on the phenology of different natural resources. 	Both the IP and Non-IP respondents in Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte are practicing indigenous practices towards biodiversity conservation in the river and forest and there were no differences found between their overall awareness on these practices. However, this high level of awareness does not translate to the conservation and preservation of the different flora and fauna found in the area. The study recommends that the community should (1) develop sustainable technique or plan in managing the biodiversity status of their community, (2) strictly implement and enforce the rules stipulated in RA 9147 by concerned agencies like the LGU and the CENRO, (3) conduct Information and Education Campaign (IEC) about R.A. 9147, and detailed research on the biodiversity status of the river and forest.
