The extent of pollution causes inundation of seaweed species entailed as Sargassum, with regards to the coastal areas of Ilocos Norte, the abundant production of the local Sargassum species, Sargassum cintum creates an avenue to proceed for a notable innovation in the food industry. This study developed an edible biofilm from Aragan (Sargassum cintum) and identified the mechanical properties of the edible film, which includes tensile strength, elasticity, and elongation at break. Different forms of the samples were characterized as powdered form, aqueous extract, and ethanolic extract. Said samples were subjected to treatments, along with the desired concentrations of glycerol, guar gum, and water to create a viscous consistency appropriate for the drying procedure of the film. Analysis of the mechanical properties were conducted by a laboratory, using a mini-Universal Testing Machine and statistical, using the t-test statistical tool for further comparative evaluation of the results. Findings show that the powdered form has the highest tensile strength at 98,813.00 Pa. The elastic modulus and elongation at break are best with the aqueous extract with 151,397.61 Pa and 1.54 %, respectively. As per elasticity, the powdered form has significant difference at 0.01 between aqueous extract and 0.01 between ethanolic extract. In terms of elongation at break, the powdered form has significance difference between aqueous extract and ethanolic extract at 0.004 and 0.01, accordingly ER -
