TI - Road safety analysis of accident blackspots in the road networks of Pangasinan PY - 2024/// CY - City of Batac PB - MMSU N1 - UTHESIS (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering); Bibliography : leaves 87-90 N2 - In the Philippines, road accidents are one of the highest causes of morbidity and mortality. In the Ilocos Region, there have been several vehicular traffic incidents recorded in the last few years and there were more vehicular road incidents in Pangasinan than in any other province in the region. This study aimed to identify accident blackspots and provide solutions in mitigating vehicular traffic incidents in Pangasinan. This study employed the Accident Severity Index (ASI) method in determining the location of these blackspots. Utilization of moving car method was used to collect the data needed for the determination of traffic flow parameters in these blackspots. Ocular inspection was employed to determine the inadequate road elements that pose risks. The identified accident blackspots were at Brgy. Lucao in Dagupan City, Brgy. Poblacion in Mangaldan, Brgy. Alipangpang in Pozorrubio, and Brgy. Nancayasan in Urdaneta City. The action plan was formulated to indicate and emphasize the need to improve road infrastructure, vehicle and road users' safety, to provide blackspots countermeasures and to encourage the implementation of road safety projects, proper road maintenance, and adherence to road design standards. This study recommended that the application of the action plan formulated in this research should be implemented. The careful construction of these measures, which is backed-up with up-to-date data and effective data analysis techniques, ensures the effectiveness of the recommended solutions and countermeasures ER -
