Incorporating carbonized coconut shell (CCS) and red clay to determine the
effect of red clay in its physical and thermal property. Coconut shell was carbonized
using a retort made of galvanized steel, then was crushed and sifted using a screen with
60 mesh. Red clay was pulverized and screened from 60 and 100 mesh and the flour
was sieved to 60 and 100 mesh. X-ray fluorescence (XRF) was used to analyzed the
elemental composition of the raw materials. Fuel analysis was tested and the
calculations was based on ASTM methods. The physical and thermal properties
charcoal briquettes (CB) were tested to determine the effect of red clay that is added in
each formulation and compared to commercial briquette.
