TI - Development and evaluation of vertical pelton turbine power generator / PY - 2024/// CY - City of Batac : PB - MMSU, N1 - UTHESIS (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering); Bibliography: leaf 47 N2 - This study centers on the development and assessment of a vertical Pelton turbine. Its objective is to identify the optimal number of open nozzles that yield the highest shaft speed across three distinct volume flow rates and analyze their performance. The sizing of the nozzle adheres to the research conducted by Kholifah et al. (2018). The total material cost amounted to Php. 26,560.00. The researchers collected information for the development and fabrication of a vertical Pelton turbine. Testing and evaluation took place at Barangay 8, San Agustin, Paoay, Ilocos Norte. Using three different volume flow rates, three open nozzles produced the highest shaft speed. At 52.32 GPM, the three open nozzles yielded a shaft speed of 564.2 RPM. At 46.47 GPM, the same three open nozzles resulted in a shaft speed of 478.9 RPM. Likewise, at 44.38 GPM, the three open nozzles produced a shaft speed of 478.9 RPM. The researchers utilized a flow rate of 52.32 GPM to assess the performance of three open nozzles. These nozzles produced brake power and waterpower of 103.15 W and 323.17 W, respectively. Evaluation of electrical output, conducted at 160 W, yielded a result of 50.1 W. The turbine efficiency was calculated to be 31.86%, while the generator efficiency stood at 48.59% ER -
