Achuela The On-the-job training program serves as a venue where students earn experience in career positions relevant to their choice of academic degrees as well as open up other future career choices towards gainful employment. Thus, it exposed students to actual work environment in the development of skills and equipping students with first hand experiences that will orient to their future career. This training program exposes the students to work realities which will ideally hone their skills and prepare them in the actual world of work and, to some extent, determines their employability. The On-the-job training (OJT) was undertaken in two host training institutions, which is at MMSU Piggery Project and V-L & Sons Enterprises Inc. (Egg Laying Poultry and Feedmill). The OJT at the former agency was taken from January 15, 2018 to March 02, 2018, while the latter was from March 05, 2018 to April 20, 2018 The trainee was exposed to a series of hands-on activities at the two host training institutions. The MMSU Piggery Project provided him practical hands-onexperiences in different areas such as I) feeding management of 266 heads of different stocks and breed of pigs, 2) breeding management such as heat detection of 3 sows and mating, 3) sow and litter management that includes attending one farrowing sow, castration of 4 piglets and weaning of 18 piglets, 4) health management by injecting antibiotics to 5 piglets, hog cholera vaccines (18 weanlings), iron administrations to 3 piglets, and Vit ADE and Oxcytocin injection to one sow,5) marketing of 28 heads of slaughter hogs/piglets/culled sows/gilts. On the other hand, the trainee was exposed to different management practices in egg production such as 1) brooding management of 6, 125 of chicks, 2.) feeding management of 1, 335 of chicks and 884 heads of laying hens, 3.) health and sanitation management that includes ocular inspection of 4 laying hens, vaccination of 2,500 chicks and vitamin supplementation to 6, 012 chicks and 4, 673 of laying hens. 4.) egg management that includes egg collection of 17, 220 eggs and grading/classification of 15,000 eggs, and 5.) feed mixing. Moreover, the trainee's exposure to actual work setting and hands-on activities under the host agency had enhanced his knowledge and skills in the field of Animal Science, particularly in swine and egg production.
