_bABSTRACT ALEGRE, AMRIE CLAIRE S., COLOMA, RACHELLE S., TAPEC, JOSEPH MARLOU I., VISITACION, ANGELICA N., Undergraduate thesis. Mariano Marcos State University, College of Health Sciences, Department of Pharmacy, Batac City 2906 Ilocos Norte, September 2007. THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ULASIMANG BATO (Peperomia Pellucide) PLANT EXTRACT ON THE BLOOD CHOLESTEROL LEVEL OF GUINEA PIGS (Cavia Porcellus Gesner K.) 55 pp Thesis Adviser: Mr. Rhian Jaymar Ramil This study investigated the effectiveness of Ulasimang Bato Plant Extact (UBPE) as a hypocholesterolemic agent and determined its chemical constituents. The pypocholesterolemic effect of UBPE was tested to 7 male and 8 female cholesterol induced guneia pigs. The test animals were subjected to the following treatments; First group, UBPE administered at a dose of 0.5ml, 1.0 ml and 1.5 ml. second group, Simvastatin (Zocor) administered at a 0.03 milligram per 100grams of body weight diluted in sufficient water. Third group, with 2 ml distilled water as the negative control. Based from the assay, it was investigated that UBPE is the most effective as hypocholesterolemic agent than the positive control and the negative control.
