| 520 | _a ABSTRACT AURELIO, ROLANDO, JR. Mariano Marcos State University. May 2021. PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT IN CHILDREN'S LEARNING OF LIFE SCIENCES IN THE NEW NORMAL Major Adviser: Aleli R. Martin, MAEd This descriptive study determined the involvement of parents in their children's learning of life sciences in the new normal. Ninety (90) parents from Florentino Camaquin Integrated School were chosen as respondents in the study. The parents' profile, level of awareness to science curriculum as well as their level of involvement in their children's learning of Life Sciences were determined using the Parental Involvement Checklist. An interview with twenty (20) parents was conducted to collect data regarding their concerns in their involvement in their children's learning of Life Sciences in the new normal. Meanwhile, the validity of the checklist and interview questionnaire was assessed by three (3) identified experts in the field of science education. Frequency and percentage were used to analyze the data collected concerning the profile of the parents. Information concerning the parents' level of awareness to science curriculum and their level of involvement in their children's learning of life sciences were analyzed through the use of mean. Furthermore, Pearson r correlation was used to analyze whether there is a significant relationship between the parents' profile and their (a) level of awareness to science curriculum, and (b) level of involvement in their children's learning of the Life Sciences. Findings revealed that the parents are moderately aware of the science curriculum. It is also revealed that parents are often involved in their children's learning of Life Sciences. Moreover, the parents' profile is significantly related to their level of awareness to science curriculum and their level of involvement in their children's learning of Life Sciences. Meanwhile, obtained results and analyses of the interview indicated that parents still have concerns regarding their involvement in their children's learning of Life Sciences in the new normal. | ||
