Mariano Marcos State University, College of Health Sciences, Department of Pharmacy, City of Emetic Activity of Guayabano (Annona Muricata) Leaf Extract on Albino Rat Batac 2906, Ilocos Norte. March 2013. . Adviser: Rhian Jaymar D. Ramil; Co-adviser: Prof. Ma. Danica Ines The extract of Guayabano leaf has been tested for its emetic activity in White Phosphorous-induced Albino rats. Determination of constituents present in the plant sample is done by phytochemical screening. Different doses (50g/kg, 60g/k, and 70g,kg) of Guayabano Leaf Extract are used in the study; positive control (Copper Sulfate) and negative control (Distilled Water) are also employed as reference. The treatments were tested using seven (7) female and eight (8) male five months old Albino rats weighing 90 to 130 g which were randomly selected. Result showed that statistically, 50g/kg, 60g/kg and 70g/kg doses of Guayabano Leaf Extract together with the positive control have no significant differences as to their number of vomiting episode produced, however, numerically the emetic onset time, emetic latency, positive control has the fastest rate and produced the greatest number of times of vomiting episode produced, however, numerically the emetic onset time, emetic latency, positive control has the fastest rate and produced the greatest number of times of vomiting and the test animals treated by 50g/kg. 60g/kg and 70g/kg of Guayabano Leaf Extract and the positive control are both asymptomatic.
