_aABSTRACT _bBaclagan, Celeste Abigail R., Bagamot, Nemesio N., Delos Santos, Ariadne B., Dela Cruz, Katrina A., Fernandez, Lovely Joy O., Gajes, Dianne Kaye B., Jerez, Edmarc B., Ortega, Regine Marie R., Regala, Kim Beau Joyz G., Yago, Chezana Monique I. 2012. Hair Growth Potential Antidandruff Activity Evaluation of Gumamela (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Linn.) Bark Crude Extract. Undergraduate Thesis. College of Health Sciences, Department of Pharmacy. Mariano Marcos State University Batac City 2906 Ilocos Norte. Adviser: Ms. Angelica May de la Cruz This study conveyed the possibility of Gumamela (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Linn.) Bark Crude Extract asa a potential hair growth promoter and its possible antidrandruff activity. The hair growth potentaisl of the Gumamela (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Linn.) Bark Crude Extract was determined through topical application to the male guinea pigs and its effectively was observed. And the antidandruff activity was determined by placing paper discs soaked in the bark crude extract of the Gumamela (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Linn.) on the petri dishes containing the dandruff and the zones of inhibition was measured. The posttest-only control group design was used to evaluate the effectively of the extract obtained from the bark of the Gumamela (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Linn.) plant in the promotion of the hair growth and antidandruff activity. Gumamela (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Linn.) Bark Crude Extract showed potential in the promotion of hair growth and was the most effective in all the management groups used. On the other hand, the antidandruff activity of the Gumamela (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Linn.) showed potential in the removal of dandruff but not as effective compared to the commercial antidandruff shampoo used. Further studies are recommended to evaluate the hair growth potential and antidandruff of the Gumamela (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Linn.) and the other parts of the Gumamela (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Linn.) plant should be utilized in determining its antidandruff property. |
