520 _aOne of the biggest challenges facing the global population is meeting the growing demand for food, as the volume of produce is reduced due to water scarcity, soil pollution, and other factors. As the world rapidly expands and evolves, new farm technology-driven trend such as aquaponic systems have emerged. Hence, this study was initiated to design and evaluate a solar-powered smart aquaponics system integrated with Arduino-based microcontrollers. The primary objectives included developing an Arduino algorithm to monitor essential microclimate parameters such as pH, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), and temperature, and implementing an SMS-based monitoring system for real-time data reception. For the system assembly, the researchers modified and utilized the design of an aquaponics system from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and employed an Arduino Uno as the microcontroller, pH sensors, TDS sensors, and water temperature sensors for gathering microclimate data. The GSM Module SIM900A was used to connect to a network provider, enabling real-time SMS notifications and timely interventions to maintain optimal conditions. Descriptive analysis and correlational design were used to analyze the data gathered from the system. Consistent growth of lettuce was observed, achieving an average height of 11.8 cm over six weeks. Fish growth exhibited a substantial daily growth rate of 11.11% of their body weight. Economically, the aquaponic system proved viable with a total investment of ₱10,743, generating a net income of ₱3,062.62 and a return on investment of 28.51%.
