520 | _aThis study focused on non-wood materials as an alternative raw material for producing paper. Tobacco stalk, which is abundant and readily available in Pinili, Ilocos Norte, has been investigated in this study as an alternative raw material for pulp and paper production. A constant concentration (20 % m/v), pulping time (4 hours), and pulping temperature (120 oC) were used in the production of pulp and paper. Physical properties were determined: grammage, thickness, density, water absorption capacity, and mechanical properties, which is a tensile index. The data were statistically analyzed by (ANOVA) to know the significant difference in the paper produced. Based on the result, the treated with NaOH and KOH were both for bond paper, writing paper, and office paper, while NaHSO3 was for blotting paper, paperboard, and blotting paper. | ||
